Dr. Brenda Halsey grew up in Alleghany County, North Carolina. She left her hometown to move to Chapel Hill where she attended The University of North Carolina. After receiving her first degree, she worked in the cosmetic industry for Giorgio, Beverly Hills, Estée Lauder, and Belk.
After a few years of working, she decided to return to school to pursue her dream of becoming a dentist. She attended A & T State University to take her pre-dental education courses. While at A &T, she was a Dean’s List student all semesters and founded the Universities first Pre-Dental /Pre-Med Education Club.
After being accepted to dental school, she again found herself in Chapel Hill attending one of the countries most prestigious dental schools. While at UNC, she was a Dean’s List student and served on the admission’s committee as a student interviewer.
Dr. Halsey was very active in Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity where she served as President and received their Zane Eargle Award and Kermit Knudtzon Award.
After graduation, Dr. Halsey moved to Charlotte where she has practiced dentistry for 17 years. Each year she attends many dental seminars to keep her skills up-to-date. In addition, she holds professional memberships related to the dental industry.
Dr. Halsey enjoys volunteer dentistry as well. She worked with the Mission of Mercy (MOM) clinics in both Sparta and Charlotte, volunteered with the Baptist Men’s Mobile Dental Bus in Monroe, NC, and for Dental Access Day (DAD) in Rock Hill, SC.
Dr. Halsey lives with her husband Joe in Rock Hill, SC, where they enjoy spending summers with their boys, wake surfing on Lake Wylie. She loves SCUBA diving, and is in fact a PADI-certified underwater digital photographer. Her other interests include travel and painting.
